The office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (SCPD) at the State level has been established as per Section 79 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016

In exercise powers conferred under the sub Section (1) of the Section79 of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (Central Act No. 49 of 2016), Government of Telangana designated the Director, Welfare of Disabled & Senior Citizens, Telangana, Hyderabad, as State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities for the purposes of the Act, to perform the functions as stipulated in Section-80 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016
